NDTV is gearing up to announce the winners of the prestigious Indian of the Year 2025 awards at a special ceremony on December 19, continuing a tradition that has, for more than two decades, celebrated individuals whose ideas, achievements and leadership have shaped India’s national narrative.
The annual honour has long been regarded as a definitive benchmark of excellence, recognising figures who reflect the ambition and confidence of a rapidly evolving India.
According to an NDTV press release, this year’s theme ‘Ideas. Inspiration. Impact.’ underscores the spirit of progress and imagination that defines the awardees across 14 diverse categories. An eminent jury panel, featuring Sanjiv Goenka as Jury Chair along with Rajiv Memani, Sharmila Tagore, P. Gopichand, Cyril Shroff and Rajiv Kumar, convened to evaluate an impressive slate of nominees whose contributions span innovation, sports, arts, public service and industry. The selection process was described as extensive and rigorous, reflecting the legacy of the awards.
The jury’s deliberations centred on nominees who have shown exceptional leadership and influence, with a focus on individuals whose work advances national aspirations and exemplifies contemporary excellence. Over the years, the awards have honoured people who redefine what is possible, and the 2025 edition aims to spotlight those shaping India’s future through their talent, imagination and public impact.
Rahul Kanwal, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of NDTV Network, said the awards celebrate individuals who not only succeed but elevate the national conversation. As the country embraces new possibilities, the Indian of the Year 2025 awards will recognise those whose ideas and actions continue to inspire and guide India’s journey forward.
