Meta‘s popular social media app, Threads, has rolled out support for Android’s predictive back gesture in its latest update, version 332.0.0.34.109. This new feature aims to streamline navigation and significantly enhance user experience on the platform.
The predictive back gesture, a key aspect of Android’s interface design, offers users a seamless and visually engaging way to navigate within the app. By providing a preview of the screen to which users will return upon tapping the back gesture, this functionality adds a layer of convenience and contributes to a more fluid and immersive user experience, TOI reported.
With the upcoming release of Android 15, the predictive back gesture will be enabled by default, highlighting its importance in the evolving Android ecosystem. Although reintroduced with Android 13, its widespread adoption has been limited due to the requirement of enabling a Developer option toggle within supported applications.
Threads’ integration of this innovative navigation tool sets it apart from its closely associated platform, Instagram, which has yet to adopt the predictive back gesture. This distinction offers Threads users a smoother and more integrated navigation experience.
Currently, the predictive back gesture is available on smartphones running the Android 15 beta and is expected to be widely available with the full rollout of Android 15 later this year.
