LinkedIn, the leading professional networking platform, has announced the addition of 10 new language options, including four Indian regional languages; Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, and Punjabi.
These new additions bring the total number of Indian languages supported by LinkedIn to five, including Hindi, which was already available on the platform, IANS reported.
In a statement released on Thursday, LinkedIn revealed that the other newly added languages are Vietnamese, Greek, Persian, Finnish, Hebrew, and Hungarian. The expansion underscores the platform’s efforts to foster greater inclusivity and accessibility, particularly in India, which is its second-largest and fastest-growing market.
Tomer Cohen, Chief Product Officer at LinkedIn, expressed excitement over the update, “We’ve expanded our language support to include 10 new languages, each representing a vibrant part of our global community. This makes LinkedIn more inclusive and accessible than ever.”
India is a crucial market for LinkedIn, with over 135 million users and engagement rates growing by 20 percent year-over-year. The new language options aim to break down language barriers, allowing more users to build professional identities and engage with their networks more meaningfully.
Kumaresh Pattabiraman, who was recently appointed as LinkedIn’s new Country Manager and Product Head in India, emphasized the platform’s evolution from a job-search site to a dynamic professional community. He noted, “India is among the top five countries with the fastest-growing AI talent, and LinkedIn members here are using AI skills three times more frequently than the global average.”
The addition of regional languages highlights LinkedIn’s focus on making its platform more relevant and user-friendly in diverse markets.
