Kolkata is set to once again play host to one of the country’s most vibrant pop culture celebrations, with Comic Con confirming its return to the city in April 2026. Following a successful debut edition last year, Kolkata Comic Con will take place on April 11 and 12, 2026, at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, further strengthening the city’s position as a key destination for comics, cosplay, anime and gaming enthusiasts.
According to a press release, the event, presented by Maruti Suzuki Arena and powered by Crunchyroll, marks the 13th edition of Comic Con India. The inaugural Kolkata edition drew an encouraging turnout, with thousands of fans coming together to celebrate comics, anime and storytelling. The response highlighted the city’s deep-rooted connection to narrative-driven art forms, making Comic Con a natural fit within Kolkata’s rich cultural fabric.
Commenting on the return, Akshat Rathee, Co-founder and Managing Director, NODWIN Gaming, said Kolkata’s relationship with pop culture goes far beyond consumption. He noted that storytelling is ingrained in the city’s everyday life, from literature and art to cinema and fandoms, adding that the first edition welcomed over 30,000 fans. According to him, Kolkata Comic Con is where local cultural icons and global superheroes come together, reflecting a unique blend of tradition and contemporary pop culture.
Echoing similar sentiments, Shefali Johnson, CEO, Comic Con India, said Kolkata has always been a city of stories. She noted that when Comic Con debuted in the city, the strong fan response, passionate cosplay community and love for characters and narratives made it clear that Kolkata is an essential part of Comic Con India’s journey. She added that the team is excited to return and invite fans to be part of the celebration once again.
The city’s enthusiasm for stories has also translated into a thriving cosplay and fan community, with local groups regularly hosting meet-ups, workshops and photoshoots, and participating in pop culture events across the country. The return of Kolkata Comic Con is expected to further nurture this ecosystem by providing cosplayers and creators a prominent platform to showcase their work.
Beyond the celebrations, the event will also serve as a gateway for local talent to compete at the national level through the Indian Championship of Cosplay. For many creators, it offers opportunities to connect with peers and industry professionals, exchange ideas and gain inspiration to refine their craft.
At Kolkata Comic Con 2026, attendees can explore comics, discover the latest in anime and manga, meet Indian and international creators, and shop for exclusive merchandise. The event will also feature gaming zones, interactive panel discussions, live performances, stand-up comedy, musical acts and a range of experiential activities, offering a dynamic and youth-focused pop culture experience.
Passes for Kolkata Comic Con 2026, scheduled for April 11–12, are now available exclusively on the District app by Zomato.
