Comedian-actor Kapil Sharma is set to headline a yet-to-be-titled web series being produced in collaboration with Netflix, further strengthening his association with the streaming platform.
The announcement was made alongside the confirmation of Season 5 of ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’, marking another major step in the actor’s expanding digital journey.
According to a report by UNI, the upcoming project will further strengthen Sharma’s collaboration with the streaming platform. While specific details about the series remain under wraps, sources suggest it will be a comedy show and is expected to go on floors next month at an international location.
The development is part of a broader partnership between Sharma and Netflix. The streaming giant has also acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights to his upcoming family-comedy film ‘Daadi Ki Shaadi’. Directed by Ashish R. Mohan, the film revolves around a lively family navigating the chaos and joy that follows their matriarch’s decision to remarry. The project also features Neetu Singh, Riddhima Kapoor and Saida Khateeb in key roles.
Over the years, Sharma has evolved from a television star to one of India’s most recognised comedians, building a strong presence across films and digital platforms. His filmography includes projects such as ‘Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon’, ‘Firangi’, ‘Zwigato’ and ‘Crew’. Although his recent release ‘Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2’ did not perform strongly at the box office, his popularity on streaming platforms has remained steady.
The continued success of The Great Indian Kapil Show, which has featured prominent guests including Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Kartik Aaryan, Shahid Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit, has further reinforced his position as a mainstream entertainer. The upcoming web series is expected to add a new dimension to his digital portfolio as audiences await more details about the project.
