JioStar yesterday announced the appointment of Bhaskar Ramesh as Head of Entertainment Sales, Digital, strengthening its leadership team as the company looks to build a data-driven advertising ecosystem for its digital entertainment business. He joins the company from Google, where he most recently served as Director – Omnichannel Businesses.
According to a press release from JioStar, Ramesh will report to Kevin Vaz, CEO, Entertainment, JioStar, and will play a key role in developing a modern, data-led advertising framework aimed at delivering measurable outcomes for brands. His mandate includes unlocking new revenue streams, strengthening advertiser partnerships, and aligning content, technology, and sales into a unified commercial strategy.
Ramesh brings extensive experience in digital business strategy and partnerships. During his tenure at Google, he was part of the India leadership team and drove strategic collaborations across sectors such as technology, retail, finance, consumer packaged goods, and automotive. He also played a significant role in advancing digital transformation initiatives across traditional and digital platforms.
Commenting on the appointment, Vaz said the company is focused on shaping the future of streaming through both engaging content and effective monetisation strategies. He noted that Ramesh’s expertise in integrating data, technology and creativity would help deliver stronger outcomes for partners and contribute significant value to the business.
At Google, Ramesh was closely involved in shaping YouTube India’s business growth, leading its monetisation and product strategy. His work helped scale the platform into a multi-billion-dollar business while addressing key challenges related to planning, pricing and measurement. He has also advised leading Indian brands on digital growth and transformation and represented India in several global strategy forums.
Before joining Google, Ramesh held leadership roles across the consumer packaged goods and media and entertainment sectors.
