Amazon MX Player’s business reality show ‘Bharat Ke Super Founders’ continues to spotlight purpose-driven entrepreneurship, and its latest episode brought craft-led brand Huts and Looms into focus. The show, which explores businesses where purpose and profit move together, highlighted how traditional Indian craftsmanship can scale commercially while preserving its authenticity and cultural value.
According to a Amazon MX Player press release, the episode centred on a deeper conversation around sustaining India’s traditional crafts without compromising their essence. The discussion examined how heritage-driven enterprises can balance scalability with the preservation of artisanal practices, bringing attention to the challenges faced by the country’s handloom sector.
The spotlight was on Huts and Looms, a handloom-first brand founded by Jaya and Toofaan. Built on the belief that India’s artistic legacy lies in handmade work rather than machine-led production, the founders highlighted the long-standing economic challenges faced by artisans, including inconsistent work opportunities and unfair wages despite global appreciation for Indian textiles. Their weaver-first approach, based on direct collaboration and fair compensation, presented traditional craft as a viable and scalable business model rather than a nostalgic pursuit.
Seeking an investment of Rs.3 crore for a 10 per cent equity stake, the founders attracted interest from several investors, who recognised the potential of sustainable, heritage-led commerce. Ankur Mittal offered Rs.50 lakh for 5 per cent equity and advised the founders to delay the launch of kidswear, a suggestion that was supported by Sharad. Shivam Mishra proposed Rs.10 lakh for 1 per cent equity, while the Market extended an offer of Rs.15 lakh for 1.5 per cent equity. Instead of a single large investment, the brand received collective backing, reflecting strong investor confidence in its long-term vision.
The brand’s growing cultural relevance also played a role in strengthening investor interest. Huts and Looms products have been featured in Bollywood productions and were showcased at Anant Ambani’s wedding, demonstrating how traditional handloom craftsmanship can find a place on prominent cultural platforms while retaining its authenticity.
The episode reflected the broader vision of ‘Bharat Ke Super Founders’, which aims to support businesses driven by integrity, cultural legacy and long-term impact. Hosted and mentored by Suniel Shetty, the show brings together a diverse panel of investors to support ideas that combine heritage, innovation and scalability.
‘Bharat Ke Super Founders’ is currently streaming on Amazon MX Player and is available across the MX Player app, Amazon shopping app, Prime Video, Fire TV and other connected devices, with new episodes released every Friday and Saturday.
