JioHotstar has announced its next major leap into disruptive entertainment with ‘The 50’, an all-new reality format produced by Banijay Asia.
The reveal, staged during the ‘Bigg Boss 19’ grand finale late last week, featured a symbolic moment where the Tiger passed the baton to the Lion — a gesture signalling the arrival of a new ruler, a new world and a new era of reality television for the platform.
‘The 50’ places 50 contenders inside a sprawling, unpredictable mahal or a palace where chaos becomes the gameplay. With no fixed rules and every twist amplified “50 times harder”, the format aims to push the boundaries of strategy, alliances, mind games and betrayals. The creators describe it as a reality experience “jaisa na kabhi kisi ne socha, na kabhi kisi ne dekha” (something no one ever imagined, nor saw), signalling the platform’s intent to redefine how India consumes reality content.
Positioned as a high-stakes spectacle, the show promises a volatile mix of drama and unpredictability designed to keep both participants and viewers on edge.
From shifting loyalties to powerplay dynamics, the series is envisioned as a game where “khelne walo ke liye bhi aur dekhne walo ke liye bhi poori baazi palatne wali hai,” cementing its ambition to reshape the competitive reality landscape.
JioHotstar has urged audiences to stay tuned for further updates on ‘The 50’ soon.
