In a special gesture to mark India’s 79th Independence Day, JioHotstar has announced ‘Operation Tiranga’, a platform-wide celebration honouring the nation’s spirit of freedom. The campaign, themed ‘Tiranga Ek, ‘Kahaniyaan Anek’, brings together a thoughtfully curated line-up of stories reflecting the courage, resilience and cultural pride symbolised by the Indian tricolour.
As part of the initiative, the streaming platform will open its entire content library for free viewing on August 15, allowing audiences across the country to enjoy a full day of unrestricted access. This move underscores JioHotstar’s aim to remain inclusive and accessible to viewers in every corner of India.
The campaign begins with a tricolour-inspired interface and a splash screen that sets the tone for the day. The curated showcase draws from the flag’s colours — saffron for tales of courage and covert heroism in titles like ‘Take Off’, ‘Madras Cafe’ and ‘IB71’; white for emotionally resonant narratives of sacrifice such as ‘Salakaar’, ‘Neerja’, ‘Mangal Pandey: The Rising’ and ‘Chandrashekar’ and green for stories rooted in cultural pride like ‘Sarzameen’, ‘Kesari 2’ and‘Airlift’.
Speaking about the initiative, Minakshi Achan, Head – Brand & Creative at JioHotstar, said, “Operation Tiranga is a campaign that celebrates the spirit of Independence Day and removes all barriers to access, allowing every viewer to discover stories that reflect the courage, resilience, and identity of the nation.”
The campaign is being rolled out across multiple touchpoints including in-app takeovers, primetime television spots, outdoor media, social platforms, and brand collaborations. In partnership with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, JioHotstar will also use the platform to promote flag etiquette awareness.
