Sony LIV has unveiled the trailer of its upcoming series ‘Jazz City’, which is set to premiere on March 19. Set in Calcutta in 1971, the show captures a turbulent period where the city’s old-world charm collides with political unrest, simmering tensions and shifting identities.

The series unfolds in the shadowy world of a jazz club, weaving together music, mystery and emotional conflict against the backdrop of a changing socio-political landscape. As melodies echo through the night and words spark resistance, the narrative explores layered relationships shaped by loyalty, rebellion and the cost of silence.

At the centre of the story is Jimmy, a man who prefers to stay away from confrontation but finds himself drawn into circumstances where every decision carries consequences. As events intensify and history demands courage, the series raises the question of whether he will step forward or remain on the sidelines.

‘Jazz City’ is created, written and directed by Soumik Sen and produced by Studio 9 and StudioNext. The show features an ensemble cast including Arifin Shuvoo, Sauraseni Maitra, Shantanu Ghatak, Aniruddha Gupta, Sayandeep Sen, Shreya Bhattacharya, Shataf Figar, Alexandra Taylor and Amit Saha.

Blending a period setting with themes of resistance and personal transformation, ‘Jazz City’ aims to present a dramatic portrayal of a city and its people navigating a defining moment in history.

The series will stream exclusively on Sony LIV from March 19.
