The India Today Group (ITG) has leveraged artificial intelligence to expand its reach and inclusivity. This time it’s the PM’s interview.
Following the success of its AI anchor, Sana, the group has now translated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s interview into six diverse languages—Marathi, Punjabi, Bangla, Bhojpuri, English, and Odia—- with the help of AI.
This innovative move ensures that the PM’s messages resonate across India’s varied linguistic landscape, breaking down language barriers and democratizing access to information, the channel said in a press release.
The PM’s interview, conducted by a distinguished panel of India Today network anchors and editors—Rahul Kanwal, Sudhir Chaudhary, Sweta Singh, and Anjana Om Kashyap—covered significant topics, including his vision for another term and his thoughts on the absence of a global news channel from India. Modi emphasized the need for more global channels like AajTak and highlighted the importance of thorough election coverage.
The #SabseSolidModiInterview quickly surged to the top spot on X’s (formerly Twitter) trending list, demonstrating the widespread interest and engagement surrounding the interview. The live broadcast on YouTube attracted a peak of 1.16 lakh concurrent viewers, while social media platforms saw over 1 million actions from May 16th to May 19th, 2024. The interview amassed more than 30 million video views and reel plays across YouTube, Facebook, X, and Instagram during this period.
This groundbreaking AI-driven translation initiative highlights the India Today Group’s commitment to innovation and inclusivity. The translated interviews have garnered significant interaction from regional audiences, with official party channels and prominent political leaders sharing them widely. These impressive statistics underscore the interview’s far-reaching impact and its ability to connect with viewers on a massive scale.
In his interview, Prime Minister Modi highlighted his favorite moment of the current election cycle—record voting in the Kashmir Valley, which he attributed to the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. He also lauded the India Today Group‘s extensive election coverage and analysis, expressing his hope for more in-depth reporting from the group in the future.
As the election season progresses, the India Today Group‘s use of AI to break language barriers stands out as a revolutionary step in media, ensuring that crucial political discussions are accessible to a broader audience than ever before.
