One percent of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) saw an increase of 0.2 Mbps, 89 percent stayed the same, and 10 percent went down 0.2 Mbps in June on the Netflix ISP Speed Index, which is a monthly update on which ISPs provide the best prime-time Netflix streaming experience.
Thirty-seven countries and regions were in the top performance tier in June. These included Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Ecuador, El Salvador, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Uruguay.
All of the above mentioned regions registered an average speed of 3.2 Mbps, Netflix said in a statement posted on its website.
The Indian ISPs featured in the Netflix index were 7 Star Digital, Airtel, Atria Convergence Technologies, Excitel Broadband, Hathway, Jio Giga Fiber, Tata Play Fiber, Alliance Broadband, BSNL, D-VoiS, GTPL, Netplus Broadband, One Broadband, Syscon Infoway and YOU Broadband. Rail Tel brought up the rear end of the ISPs listed from India with a speed of 2.8 Mbps.
While no countries saw significant speed movements, several individual ISPs did improve by 0.2 Mbps since May’s results. These include CableColor in Guatemala and Viva in Kuwait, both rising from 2.6 to 2.8 Mbps; Gigared in Argentina, increasing from 2.8 to 3.0 Mbps; NOWO in Portugal, climbing from 3.0 to 3.2 Mbps and Aba in Venezuela, improving from 1.6 to 1.8 Mbps.
The Netflix ISP Speed Index is a measure of prime-time Netflix performance on a particular ISP and not a measure of overall performance for other services or data that may travel across the specific ISP network. Higher Netflix performance generally means better picture quality, quicker start times, and fewer interruptions.
