The Department of Tourism, Government of Bihar, in association with HistoryTV18, has announced a special two part series titled ‘Bihar The Land Of Art & Crafts’, highlighting the state’s rich traditions of art, culture and craftsmanship.
According to a HistoryTV18 press release,the series explores Bihar’s centuries old craft heritage and takes viewers through communities where traditional art forms continue to thrive. It showcases how local artisans preserve their skills while creating livelihoods through generations-old practices.
The first episode focuses on some of Bihar’s most recognised art forms, including Madhubani (Mithila) painting, Sujni embroidery, stone carving and terracotta craft. The episode highlights the stories behind these traditions and how they reflect the cultural identity of the state.
The second episode features other unique crafts from Bihar, including Bhagalpuri silk (Tussar silk), Sikki grass craft, Manjusha painting from Bhagalpur and Tikuli art. The show explores the history, creativity and efforts of artisans who continue to keep these traditional crafts alive.
Through the two part special, HistoryTV18 aims to showcase Bihar not just as a place of historical importance but also as a destination known for its living heritage, artistic excellence and creative communities.
The series also highlights the role of traditional crafts in supporting livelihoods, empowering women artisans and preserving cultural knowledge passed down through generations.
‘Bihar – The Land Of Art & Crafts’ will air on HistoryTV18 on July 20 at 8 pm and July 21 at 9 pm.
