The Bombay High Court has granted permission for the release of the film ‘Hamare Baarah’ after the filmmakers agreed to remove two contentious dialogues. The court’s approval allows the movie to hit theatres today, June 7.

Previously, a review committee failed to reach a conclusion, prompting the court’s dissatisfaction. Senior advocate Rahul Narichania, representing the filmmakers, consented to the dialogue deletions to expedite the release.

Starring Annu Kapoor, Manoj Joshi, and Paritosh Tripathi, ‘Hamare Baarah’ is directed by Kamal Chandra and jointly produced by Birender Bhagat, Ravi S Gupta, Sanjay Nagpal, and Sheo Balak Singh. The film tackles the pressing social issue of overpopulation.

Despite the clearance, the Karnataka government has banned the film’s release or broadcast in the state for two weeks, citing potential communal tensions. This decision, under the Karnataka Cinema Regulations Act 1964, sections 15(1) and 15(5), came after minority organizations raised concerns about post-trailer viewing.

The film was scheduled for nationwide release on June 7, 2024.
