Warner Bros. Discovery is bringing one of the world’s most popular survival reality formats to Indian audiences with the launch of ‘Naked and Afraid: Aadimanav’. The Indian adaptation of the globally acclaimed Naked and Afraid will premiere on June 15 at 11pm on Discovery Channel India and will also stream on discovery+ India.
According to a Warner Bros. Discovery release, the series marks the first Indian adaptation of the internationally successful survival format, known for showcasing extreme human endurance and resilience in challenging environments. The Indian version takes six survivalists deep into the jungles of Palawan, where they will face a demanding test of survival far from the comforts of modern life.
Built around the theme, “No Mercy. No Escape,” the show places participants in harsh and unpredictable conditions where every decision can determine their chances of survival. Contestants will navigate dense forests, caves, riverbeds, and coastal landscapes while battling hunger, fatigue, extreme weather conditions, and interpersonal tensions.
The series features a diverse group of Indian participants, including mountaineers, wildlife rescuers, athletes, travel creators, and outdoor enthusiasts. Each survivalist enters the competition carrying only one survival item and is assigned a Primitive Survival Rating (PSR), a metric designed to assess their ability to adapt and survive in the wilderness.
Spread across six episodes, ‘Naked and Afraid: Aadimanav’ follows the contestants as they attempt to safely traverse difficult terrain while securing food, water, and shelter. With limited resources at their disposal, participants must rely on their instincts, skills, and determination to endure the challenges and successfully reach extraction points.
The show will document the realities of survival through tasks such as building shelters, sourcing food, crossing hazardous landscapes, and forming alliances under pressure. By focusing on both physical and mental endurance, the series aims to deliver an authentic survival experience while highlighting the resilience required to thrive in extreme conditions.
The launch of ‘Naked and Afraid: Aadimanav’ introduces a globally recognised adventure-reality franchise to India at a time when survival-focused factual entertainment remains relatively unexplored in the country. The adaptation is expected to bring a fresh dimension to the Indian non-fiction television landscape by combining high-stakes adventure with human stories of perseverance and adaptability.
‘Naked and Afraid: Aadimanav’ premieres on June 15 at 11pm on Discovery Channel and discovery+.
