Daniel Shapero has stepped into the role of Chief Executive Officer at LinkedIn, marking a significant leadership transition at the professional networking giant. The appointment comes as the platform continues to evolve amid rapid changes in the global workplace and the growing influence of artificial intelligence.
Shapero shared the update while reflecting on his long journey with the company, which began in 2008 when he joined as an early employee. Over the years, he has held a range of leadership positions across product, sales, and business functions, playing a key role in shaping LinkedIn’s growth and strategy.
Before taking over as CEO, Shapero served as Chief Operating Officer, where he led critical verticals including product development, sales, operations, marketing, and customer success. His earlier roles at the company include Chief Business Officer, Vice President of Product, and Vice President of Global Sales for Talent Solutions, giving him a broad, end-to-end understanding of the platform’s ecosystem.
In his new role, Shapero has underlined LinkedIn’s continued focus on creating economic opportunity for professionals worldwide. He also pointed to the shifting nature of work in an AI-driven landscape, indicating that the company will continue to adapt its offerings to support professionals navigating these changes.
As part of his initial priorities, Shapero plans to engage closely with employees, members, creators, and customers across the platform, signalling a hands-on approach as he begins his tenure.
Outside of LinkedIn, Shapero has been active as an advisor and investor across multiple companies. Earlier in his career, he worked with Bain & Company and held roles spanning product marketing and entrepreneurship, experiences that have contributed to his leadership approach at LinkedIn.
