COLORS is set to strike an emotional chord with its new fiction offering ‘Dr. Aarambhi’, a setback-to-comeback drama that explores the quiet erasure many women endure in the name of love, marriage and family. The show brings to the forefront the cost of self-neglect and the courage it takes to reclaim one’s identity, positioning itself as a story of resilience, healing and second chances.
At the heart of the narrative is Dr. Aarambhi Balbir Chaudhary, once a gold medallist and AIPMT topper with a future full of promise. Groomed into the role of the “perfect” daughter-in-law, mother and trophy wife, Aarambhi is slowly manipulated into believing that sacrifice is her greatest virtue. Her medical career is cut short even before it can begin, while her husband, Dr. Vishwas, rises as the celebrated face of the family’s powerful medical legacy. When a devastating personal setback forces her to confront the reality of her life, Aarambhi chooses not to break but to rebuild, stepping into her own power and deciding to become the hero of her own story.
What follows is the transformation of pain into purpose. Aarambhi’s calling as a doctor becomes both her refuge and her rebellion, guiding her towards independence and self-respect. Anchored by the line “Bahut hua setback, ab hoga comeback,” the show traces her emotional and professional resurgence, highlighting the strength it takes to begin again.
The series stars Aishwarya Khare in the titular role, with Aditya Redij as the outwardly charming yet deeply manipulative Dr. Vishwas, and Anjuum Faakih as Dr. Avantika, a complex character driven by ambition, longing and emotional vulnerability. Together, the trio bring to life a layered narrative that examines power dynamics, betrayal and the fragile truths behind seemingly perfect relationships.
Speaking about her role, Aishwarya Khare describes Aarambhi as a reflection of countless women who are asked to adjust, stay silent and wait their turn, slowly losing faith in themselves along the way. She notes that Aarambhi’s comeback is not fuelled by revenge, but by realisation and quiet courage, as she chooses to stand up for herself and her son, breaking the cycle she was once trapped in.
Aditya Redij, who essays the role of Vishwas, says his character is unsettling precisely because of his calm demeanour. Beneath the surface of an ideal, progressive husband lies a man who views marriage as possession, using manipulation and gaslighting to strip Aarambhi of her confidence. Redij adds that Vishwas represents a reality society often enables, making his character disturbingly familiar.
Anjuum Faakih, meanwhile, brings nuance to Dr. Avantika, a confident and self-made doctor whose strength does not shield her from loneliness or emotional conflict. She describes Avantika as a woman who longs for honesty and to be chosen without hesitation, reminding viewers that vulnerability and desire do not negate empowerment.
‘Dr. Aarambhi’ premieres tonight and will air Monday to Friday at 8 pm on COLORS, with streaming available on JioHotstar. The show promises a stirring tale of courage, redemption and the power of starting over.
