The makers of ‘Cocktail 2’ unveiled the film’s trailer on Tuesday, offering audiences a glimpse into a modern tale of friendship, romance and emotional conflict. Starring Shahid Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Kriti Sanon, the film is set to hit theatres on June 19.
The trailer introduces Kunal, played by Shahid Kapoor, Diya, portrayed by Rashmika Mandanna, and Ally, essayed by Kriti Sanon, as three close friends exploring scenic international destinations together. However, the dynamics of their friendship begin to shift when love enters the picture, leading to emotional complications and unexpected tensions, The Hindu reported.
Directed by Homi Adajania and written by Tarun Jain and Luv Ranjan, ‘Cocktail 2’ serves as a spiritual sequel to the 2012 hit ‘Cocktail’, which featured Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty in lead roles.
The trailer showcases a mix of romance, drama and humour as Kunal and Diya’s marriage impacts their bond with Ally. while several scenes highlight emotional turmoil and strained relationships, the film also retains a light-hearted tone, evident in moments of comic banter and confrontations. One of the trailer’s standout sequences features Diya and Ally engaging in a loud and chaotic argument, hinting at the emotional complexities at the heart of the story.
Backed by a soundtrack composed by Pritam with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya, the film aims to explore contemporary relationships and the many shades of love. The project is produced by Dinesh Vijan, Luv Ranjan, Pramita R. Vijan and Ankur Garg.
With its blend of romance, friendship and emotional drama, ‘Cocktail 2’ looks set to offer a fresh take on modern relationships while carrying forward the spirit of the original film. The movie is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 19.
