The IPL (Indian Premier League) began on March 31, 2023, and Jio retains the digital rights to live stream the matches across India.
Online viewers can watch the IPL live via the JioTV or JioCinema apps. With the acquisition of digital rights, the IPL has expanded its reach and engagement among cricket enthusiasts and local sports fans who prefer to watch matches on their mobile devices and smart TVs.
With 836 million subscriptions as of September 2022, India has a sizable internet user market. These figures are expected to exceed 1100 million by the end of 2025. Smartphone users are currently limited to 600 million, while Connected TVs reached 18 million in January 2023.

The ‘Digital Track’ feature of Chrome DM measures the reach and engagement of online content/shows. It tracks unique views to gain a complete picture of the number of users who have interacted with a specific piece of content or a show.
According to data from the Chrome Digital track over the last four weeks (wk-13 to wk-16), Jio Cinema was the top gainer, averaging over 77 million viewers in week-16.

Starting strong in week-13, reaching 75.9 million viewers in total, the platform has since seen an upward trend with each successive weak, eventually reaching 96.2 percent by the end of week-16.
