Bluesky, backed by Dorsey, has announced a significant update, unveiling an in-app video and music player for links. The update allows platforms like YouTube, SoundCloud, Spotify, and Twitch embeds to play within the app, triggered only after a user tap – ensuring no autoplay functionality.
Additionally, Bluesky introduces a ‘hide post’ feature, enabling users to remove undesirable content from their feeds. Posts hidden using this beta feature will be masked if accessed directly but are not yet synced across devices, IANS reported.
This update also addresses several bugs, including fixes for muted and blocked account listings, empty home screen issues, and a crash bug occurring during thread interactions.
Bluesky, despite maintaining an invite-only access, recently enabled non-logged-in users to view platform posts. However, creating an account still requires an invitation, while post reading is accessible via a link, shareable in individual or group chats.
Furthermore, earlier this month, Bluesky launched enhanced automated tools to flag content violating community guidelines.
Despite its invite-only status, Bluesky has reached an impressive 2 million users. The platform continues to evolve, offering new features and functionality, enhancing the user experience within its social media network.
