Apple TV has announced ‘The Choir’, a new eight-episode comedic drama created by Ruth Jones and James Corden. The series is currently in production and will premiere globally on Apple TV in 2027.
According to an Apple TV press release yesterday, ‘The Choir’ follows siblings Ben, played by James Corden, and Lisa, played by Ruth Jones, who have not seen each other for several years. Ben has been living abroad, while Lisa has stayed in their small English town.
After a difficult turn of events, Ben is forced to return to his hometown and his estranged family. His return brings him back into Lisa’s life, giving the siblings a chance to reconnect. A struggling local choir also becomes an important part of their story.
The series explores themes of family, friendship, love and music. It also marks the first project together for Ruth Jones and James Corden since ‘Gavin & Stacey: The Finale’. Both actors are serving as executive producers on the series.
The cast includes Tom Davis, Rosie Sheehy, Susan Brown, Jason Watkins, David Harewood and Alexandria Riley, among others. Hannah Waddingham, James McAvoy and Jim Broadbent will also appear in guest roles.
‘The Choir’ is produced for Apple TV by Various Artists Limited and TidyTwo. Jennifer Sheridan and Jim Archer are directing the series, which is scheduled to premiere globally on Apple TV in 2027.
