Apple announced on Tuesday that 5G cellular support has been enabled for the new iPhone 14, iPhone 13, iPhone SE, and iPhone 12 lineups in India as the country enters the 5G era.
Customers will need to update to iOS 16.2 to use a 5G connection with Reliance Jio and Airtel on an iPhone 12 model or later. This update also includes a slew of other features.
Apple enabled 5G in the iOS 16 Beta software program last month for a limited number of iPhone users in the country.
Customers of Apple Airtel and Jio who participated in the iOS 16 Beta software program were able to test out 5G.
Apple worked closely with its “carrier partners in India to bring the best 5G experience to iPhone users as soon as network validation and testing for quality and performance is completed”.
As India gradually implements 5G, beginning with key metro cities, smartphone manufacturers are working to make 5G available on their devices, IANS reported from New Delhi.
Apple conducts extensive testing with carrier partners to ensure that iPhone users have a positive experience.
iPhone users can stay in touch, share, and enjoy content with superfast downloads and uploads, improved streaming, and real-time connectivity with 5G.
The support for 5G on iPhone has now extended to over 250 carrier partners in over 70 markets around the world, with expanded support for standalone networks.
Prioritizing software upgrades would allow for early 5G adoption in India.
