Amazon MGM Studios has released the official trailer of its upcoming psychological thriller ‘Verity’, based on the bestselling novel by Colleen Hoover, detailing a star-led adaptation backed by a prominent creative team.
The film features Anne Hathaway in the title role alongside Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett in key parts, marking a major collaboration between established Hollywood actors for the project.
The trailer, according to an Amazon MGM Studios press statement, introduces the film’s central premise, following a struggling writer drawn into the life of a renowned author under mysterious circumstances, setting up a dark narrative of psychological tension and buried secrets.
Directed by Michael Showalter and written by Nick Antosca, ‘Verity’ is produced by a team that includes Antosca, Alex Hedlund, Showalter, Jordana Mollick, Hathaway, Hoover and Stacey Sher.
Adapted from Hoover’s best-selling novel, this seductive, psychological thriller follows renowned author Verity Crawford (Anne Hathaway) and Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson), a struggling writer who relocates to the remote Crawford estate to ghostwrite for Verity. After Lowen uncovers what appears to be Verity’s chilling autobiographical notes, she wrestles with the disturbing and twisted confessions about Verity’s husband Jeremy (Josh Hartnett), and finds it hard to separate fiction from reality, manipulation from attraction, and opportunity from obsession.
‘Verity’ adds to the growing slate of book-to-screen adaptations from Amazon’s studio arm, with the project positioned as a major theatrical release. The film is scheduled to hit cinemas on October 2, 2026.
The announcement underscores Amazon MGM Studios’ continued investment in high-profile literary adaptations, bringing together leading actors, filmmakers, and producers for a suspense-driven cinematic offering.
