‘Spider-Noir’ has been cancelled at Prime Video after the first season. The series was created by Oren Uziel, who also served as a showrunner alongside co-showrunner Steve Lightfoot.
The makers have decided not to proceed with another season, which was earlier ordered under a multi-title deal between Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television based on IP from Sony Pictures’ Universe of Marvel Characters, a PTI news report from Los Angeles stated yesterday quoting entertainment news outlet The Hollywood Reporter.
The news comes at a time when the live-action series, based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir and starring Nicholas Cage, has got 11 nominations for the Emmy Awards 2026.
It tells the story of Ben Reilly (Nicolas Cage), a seasoned, down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life following a deeply personal tragedy, as the city’s one and only superhero.
Meanwhile, a report in Variety said the series also has a solid 92 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes (and a 90 percent ‘popcornmeter’ vote among fans).
‘Spider-Noir’ was the first Marvel-related series to premiere out of Amazon’s pact with Sony Pictures TV to develop characters and stories from the ‘Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters’, the Variety report stated.
‘Spider-Noir’ originally premiered on the linear MGM+ channel on May 25, and then started streaming on Prime Video the next day and gave the subscriber options to watch the show in either colour or black & white.
