It has been 30 years to the day since he made his debut with ‘Barsaat’. Bobby Deol’s career has been a rollercoaster ride since, the dizzying highs and terrible lows that could make for a film script all its own, and it is almost as if a star has been reborn — complete with a new fan base and roles in all shades of grey.
The chocolate box hero, according to a PTI report from New Delhi, better known as Dharmendra’s son when he hit the screens in ‘Barsaat’ opposite another debutante and star kid Twinkle Khanna on October 6, 1995, has evolved into the character actor who grabs attention with his turn as the villain in ‘Animal’, the shady godman in the OTT show ‘Aashram’ and now the suave, complex superstar of Netflix’s ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’.
And the star, who talks candidly about his slump when he got no work and was in a “horrible place” in his life, can’t be happier.
Another PTI report added that the actor took to social media to express gratitude for their unwavering love and support, adding that even after 30 years, he feels like he’s only “getting started.”
To mark the 30-year milestone, the 56-year-old actor shared a montage video of his iconic roles on Instagram yesterday. “30 years of many emotions on and off screen… all made worthwhile by your love. That fire still burns and I am just getting started,” Bobby wrote in the caption. His post quickly went viral, with fans and industry colleagues showering him with love and praise for his enduring career.
Several Bollywood stars joined in to congratulate the actor on completing 30 glorious years. Actor Preity Zinta, who starred with Bobby in ‘Soldier’, commented, “Congratulations Lord Bobby. This is just the start. Love you loads.” Meanwhile, his sister Esha Deol took to Instagram stories to share, “30 years and lots lots more. More power @iambobbydeol.”
Over the years, Bobby Deol has been a part of several successful films, including ‘Gupt’, ‘Bichhoo’, ‘Ajnabee’, ‘Humraaz’, and ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’. However, it was Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s 2023 blockbuster ‘Animal’ that reintroduced him to a new generation of viewers. His portrayal of the menacing antagonist Abrar Haque received widespread acclaim, reigniting his stardom.
Most recently, the actor appeared in Netflix’s ‘The Ba**ds of Bollywood’, which released on September 18. Directed by Aryan Khan in his directorial debut, the series also stars Lakshya, Sahher Bambba and Raghav Juyal. Spanning seven episodes, the show has earned Bobby yet another wave of praise for his intense screen presence.
With his resurgence on both the big and small screens, Bobby’s message seems clear — three decades later, the fire still burns bright.
