In the latest BARC India ratings encompassing Week 49, Aaj Tak emerged as the leading news channel, securing a remarkable ascent from the previous week to claim the top position with a relative share of 13 percent.
The channel’s meteoric rise from its prior standing at No. 4 highlights its exceptional performance during a period marked by significant national events and developments.
Weeks 46 to 49 were characterized by a flurry of critical news events, including the high-stakes Assembly elections across five states and the intensive rescue operation at the Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarakhand.
According to Aaj Tak, the comprehensive coverage and insightful reporting resonated with viewers, propelling it to the forefront of the news landscape.

Despite the intense competition, Aaj Tak’s closest contender, TV9 Bharatvarsh, experienced a notable decline in its relative share, plummeting from 16.5 percent in Week 45 to 12.9 percent. Meanwhile, News18 India claimed the third spot with an equal 12.9 percent relative share, closely followed by India TV at 12.3 percent.
Republic Bharat witnessed a marginal increase of 0.5 percent in its relative share, maintaining its position at the fifth spot with an 11.7 percent share. Times Now Navbharat secured the sixth position with a relative share of 7.7 percent.

ABP News exhibited growth in its relative share, ascending to the seventh rank with a 7.1 percent share, while News Nation, Zee News, and Good News Today secured positions eight, nine, and ten, respectively, with varying relative shares.
News24, DD News, and Zee Bharat retained their positions further down the rankings, with marginal fluctuations in their relative shares.
The dynamic shifts in viewership patterns underline the audience’s inclination towards comprehensive and incisive news coverage, reflecting the significance of in-depth reporting during critical national events.
As the news landscape continues to evolve, the battle for viewership supremacy remains intense, with channels vying to deliver engaging content and insightful analysis to captivate audiences across the country.
