Anil Kapoor’s popular action thriller series ‘24’ is set to make a comeback, this time on the streaming platform JioHotstar, bringing the acclaimed show back into the spotlight for a new generation of viewers.
According to a PTI report, the series, which originally aired on television, will now be available for streaming, marking its transition from traditional broadcast to the digital space. The move reflects the growing trend of legacy shows finding renewed audiences through OTT platforms.
An Indian adaptation of the internationally acclaimed American series of the same name, 24 first premiered in 2013, followed by its second season in 2016 on Colors TV. The show was widely appreciated for its gripping narrative, real-time storytelling format, and strong performances by its cast.
Directed by Abhinay Deo and written by Rensil D’Silva, the series revolved around the high-stakes life of Anti-Terrorist Unit (ATU) chief Jai Singh Rathod, played by Anil Kapoor. The story unfolds over a span of 24 hours, capturing intense situations as the protagonist races against time to avert national threats.
The show stood out for introducing a fast-paced, edge-of-the-seat format to Indian television, closely mirroring its global counterpart while adapting the narrative to suit Indian sensibilities. With its return on JioHotstar, ‘24’ is expected to find both nostalgic viewers and new audiences looking for high-quality thriller content.
The streaming debut further underlines the continued relevance of the series and its storytelling, as platforms increasingly curate legacy titles that have left a lasting impact on viewers.
