The makers of the upcoming investigative thriller ‘Kaalidas 2’, starring Bharath in the lead role, have announced that the film will release in theatres on April 3 this year. The film is directed by Sri Senthil and is the much-awaited sequel to the successful crime thriller Kaalidas.
According to an IANS report, the second instalment in the franchise is being produced by Five Star K. Senthil and Dr. N. Yogeshwaran. Sri Senthil, who helmed the first part of the film, has once again written and directed the sequel, raising expectations among audiences who had appreciated the earlier film.
Apart from Bharath, the film also features Ajay Karthi in a key role. The cast includes several other actors such as Bhavani Sre, Sangita, Abarnathi, Ananth Nag, TM Karthik and Singam Jayavel, forming an ensemble that is expected to drive the film’s gripping narrative.
The sequel has already generated considerable curiosity among film enthusiasts, especially because it follows the success of the original ‘Kaalidas’. Another aspect that has attracted attention is the return of actress Sangita to the big screen after a long gap, adding further intrigue around the project.
A teaser released by the makers earlier offered a glimpse into the tense and suspenseful tone of the film. In the teaser, Bharath — who plays a police officer — receives a distress call from a frightened woman pleading for help. The scene sets a chilling mood as she tearfully says she is terrified and urgently asks him to come.
The teaser also features a voice-over that questions the nature of punishment and justice, suggesting that while the law prescribes punishment for crimes, certain consequences emerge beyond the reach of legal systems. The visuals also hint that Bhavani Sre plays a police officer in the film alongside Bharath. The movie carries the intriguing tagline ‘Monster Hunt.’
Sources close to the film’s production say that the sequel will delve deeper into crime investigations, presenting a darker narrative with more mystery, danger and psychological tension compared to the first instalment.
On the technical front, the film’s music has been composed by Sam CS, while cinematography is handled by Suresh Bala. Editing has been carried out by Bhuvan Srinivasan, and G Durairaj has served as the production designer.
The screenplay has been written by Aravindan Anand, while the art direction has been managed by A. Raja, popularly known as ‘Kaliyuga’ A. Raja. Choreography for the songs is by Bobby, and the film’s action sequences have been designed by stunt choreographer Om Prakash.
Sound design has been handled by audiographer Tapas Nayak, while the lyrics for the songs are penned by Mohanraj. Costume design for the film has been created by Dorothy Jai, also known as DJ.
With the announcement of its theatrical release date, ‘Kaalidas 2’ is now gearing up to bring back its crime investigation narrative to the big screen, promising audiences a gripping continuation of the story when it arrives in cinemas on April 3.
