Yash Raj Films has announced that its upcoming spy thriller ‘Alpha’, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh in the lead roles, will release in theatres on July 10, 2026. The film is part of the studio’s expanding Spy Universe and is being positioned as a significant addition to the popular action franchise.
According to a report by PTI, the studio shared the release date on Monday through its official social media platforms along with the film’s poster. The announcement was made on Instagram with the caption “#ALPHA 10.07.2026,” confirming the theatrical debut of the much-anticipated project.
The film holds particular significance as it will be the first female-led instalment in the YRF Spy Universe. The franchise, which has delivered several successful action films over the years, now expands its narrative with a story centred around women characters taking the lead in a high-stakes espionage drama.
‘Alpha’ is directed by Shiv Rawail, who earlier directed the acclaimed Netflix series The Railway Men for Yash Raj Films. His transition from the streaming series to a major theatrical spy film marks another step in his collaboration with the production banner.
While further details about the storyline remain under wraps, the film is expected to follow the signature style of the YRF Spy Universe, known for its high-octane action sequences, globe-trotting narratives and interconnected characters. The inclusion of Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in the lead roles signals a fresh direction for the franchise, which has traditionally been driven by male protagonists.
The YRF Spy Universe has steadily evolved into one of the biggest action franchises in Hindi cinema, bringing together multiple films and characters under a shared narrative framework. With ‘Alpha’, the studio aims to expand that universe further by introducing a female-centric storyline while maintaining the scale and spectacle associated with its spy thrillers.
The announcement has already sparked curiosity among moviegoers and fans of the franchise, particularly because it brings together a popular production banner, a new directorial voice and two prominent actors in a project that promises both action and intrigue.
With the release date now locked for July 10, 2026, ‘Alpha’ is set to become one of the major theatrical releases from Yash Raj Films next year as the studio continues to build momentum around its ambitious Spy Universe.
