Arnold Schwarzenegger is back in the Christmas movie business, this time playing Santa Claus in ‘The Man with the Bag’, whose trailer has been unveiled by Prime Video ahead of its global premiere on December 2.
The holiday heist comedy, starring Schwarzenegger alongside Alan Ritchson and Awkwafina, marks the actor’s return to the Christmas genre 30 years after ‘Jingle All the Way’. The film promises a mix of action, comedy, holiday magic and heart, a Prime Video statement said yesterday.
The story takes an unexpected turn when Santa’s iconic red bag is stolen by a rogue elf with a grudge, played by Awkwafina, putting Christmas at risk.
With his biggest night of the year approaching, Santa turns to a thief from his Naughty List, played by Ritchson, to recover the bag.
The thief quickly assembles a crew of criminally skilled misfits, with a little help from elves and reindeer, to pull off an extraordinary heist and save Christmas.
Described as an adventure about second chances, unlikely friendships and discovering that even Santa sometimes needs help delivering Christmas, the film combines festive fantasy with a heist-comedy premise.
The cast also includes Berkeley James, Michael Cyril Creighton, Liza Koshy, Kyle Mooney, Jane Krakowski and Ken Jeong.
Adam Shankman has directed the film from a screenplay by Allan Rice.
