Prime Video has announced a landmark collaboration with Eternal Sunshine Productions for its upcoming Original film ‘Don’t Be Shy’, a coming-of-age romantic comedy written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji.
The project marks a significant partnership between the streaming platform and the production house founded by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt, and adds another female-led, youth-focused story to Prime Video’s growing slate of Indian originals.
According to a press release issued on Thursday, ‘Don’t Be Shy’ is produced by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt under the banner of Eternal Sunshine Productions, and co-produced by Grishma Shah and Vikesh Bhutani. The film follows the story of Shyamili ‘Shy’ Das, a 20-year-old who believes she has her life perfectly mapped out until a series of unexpected events turn her world upside down, forcing her to confront love, friendship and growing up in ways she never anticipated.
Announcing the collaboration, Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video India, said the platform was excited to back a story that is emotionally rich, relatable and entertaining. He noted that the film’s strong female-forward narrative, fresh writing and earnest characters, along with music by Ram Sampath, promise a warm and engaging viewing experience for audiences worldwide.
Alia Bhatt, co-founder of Eternal Sunshine Productions, said the film resonated deeply with the banner’s vision of backing honest stories and distinctive voices. She described ‘Don’t Be Shy’ as a sincere coming-of-age story that stood out for its emotional authenticity and youthful energy, adding that Prime Video felt like the right creative partner for the film to find its audience.
With ‘Don’t Be Shy’, Prime Video continues to strengthen its focus on young adult storytelling, while Eternal Sunshine Productions builds on its growing body of work that champions contemporary, character-driven narratives.
