Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s next feature film starring actor-musician Diljit Dosanjh will now hit theatres on June 12, 2026, the makers announced on Thursday. The film, which is yet to be titled, has been described as a “charming story of love and longing” and is expected to carry Ali’s signature emotional depth and lyrical storytelling.
According to a PTI report, the film was originally slated for an April 2026 release, timed around the festival of Baisakhi. However, the release date has now been pushed to mid-June, with the makers opting for a wider summer theatrical window.
The upcoming project marks the second collaboration between Imtiaz Ali and Diljit Dosanjh, following the success of their 2024 Netflix film ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’. The biographical drama, which explored the life and legacy of the iconic Punjabi singer, was widely appreciated by audiences and critics alike, strengthening anticipation around their next outing together.
While details about the plot and supporting cast remain under wraps, the new film is expected to blend music, emotion and intimate storytelling—elements that have long defined Ali’s cinema. With Dosanjh continuing to expand his footprint across both mainstream Hindi and Punjabi cinema, the pairing is being closely watched by fans and industry observers.
More updates regarding the film’s title, music and full cast are expected to be announced in the coming months as the June 2026 release approaches.
