Oscar-nominated actor Amy Madigan has joined the cast of Netflix’s upcoming limited series ‘All The Sinners Bleed’, an adaptation of S.A. Cosby’s critically acclaimed novel of the same name. The series is currently in production in Atlanta, Georgia, marking another significant addition to Netflix’s expanding slate of prestige dramas.
According to a UNI report, Madigan will be seen in the role of Scarlett Cunningham in the series. ‘All The Sinners Bleed’ revolves around Titus Crown, played by Sope Dirisu, who becomes the first Black sheriff in a small county in the Bible Belt. Still grappling with the trauma of losing his deeply religious mother, Crown finds himself leading a disturbing investigation into a serial killer who has been preying on members of the Black community for years, masking his crimes under the guise of religious belief.
The project brings together a strong ensemble cast. Previously announced names include John Douglas Thompson, Nicole Beharie, Daniel Ezra, Andrea Cortes, Murray Bartlett, and Leila George. The series will also feature Giancarlo Esposito, David Lyons, Donald Elise Watkins, Mackenzie Astin, Jordan M. Cox, Cullen Moss, Angus O’Brien, Cranston Johnson, Christopher Matthew Cook, Christopher Thornton, and Bill Oberst Jr. in recurring roles.
Joe Robert Cole, known for his work on socially charged narratives, serves as the writer, showrunner, and executive producer of the series. He is also set to direct the first episode along with several others. The show is backed by an impressive production lineup, with executive producers including Higher Ground Productions, Amblin Television, and author S.A. Cosby himself.
Madigan’s casting comes at a time when the actor is enjoying renewed attention following her recent Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Aunt Gladys in Zach Cregger’s Weapons. She was earlier nominated in the same category for her role in the 1985 drama Twice in a Lifetime.
Over the years, Madigan has built a diverse body of work across film and television. Her film credits include Field of Dreams, Uncle Buck, and Gone Baby Gone, while her television appearances span acclaimed series such as ‘Carnivàle’, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘ER’, ‘Fringe’, and ‘Penny Dreadful: City of Angels’. She is represented by Paradigm and Anonymous Content.
With its dark thematic core, strong creative leadership, and an expanding cast led by seasoned performers, ‘All The Sinners Bleed’ is shaping up to be one of Netflix’s most closely watched limited series in the coming slate.
