Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has entered into an exclusive multi-year partnership with the DP World Tour, acquiring television and digital media rights for three seasons from 2026 to 2028. The agreement strengthens SPNI’s sports portfolio and reinforces its focus on bringing premium international sporting events to audiences across the Indian subcontinent.
As stated in an SPNI press release, the 2026 DP World Tour calendar will span tournaments across more than 20 countries, including five prestigious Rolex Series events. The coverage under this partnership will extend beyond India to Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka, ensuring wide regional access to top-tier professional golf action.
The association will bring live coverage of elite golf from iconic courses around the world, featuring leading international players as well as emerging talent competing at the highest level. The season will begin with the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, which will be live streamed on Sony LIV from January 22. The calendar will also place a strong spotlight on marquee events in India, including the Hero Indian Open 2026 scheduled from March 26 to 29 and the DP World India Championship set to take place from October 15 to 18.
With these tournaments, India once again takes centre stage on the global golf calendar, hosting high-stakes competitions that combine international participation with strong representation from Indian golfers. Through this long-term rights acquisition, SPNI aims to deliver three full seasons of DP World Tour action, offering viewers a consistent, immersive and premium viewing experience across both digital and television platforms.
Commenting on the partnership, Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer and Business Head, Sports and International at Sony Pictures Networks India, said the DP World Tour represents the pinnacle of global professional golf. He noted that the long-term agreement reflects Sony’s strategic commitment to building the sport’s ecosystem across India and neighbouring markets, while ensuring continuity, scale and deeper fan engagement through Sony LIV and its television networks.
Richard Bunn, Chief Revenue and Content Officer at the DP World Tour, highlighted the Tour’s longstanding connection with India and its players. He said the addition of the DP World India Championship to the global schedule has further strengthened those ties, and expressed confidence that the new media rights deal with Sony Pictures Networks India will help bring the Tour’s worldwide journey across 25 countries closer to Indian fans.
With this partnership, Sony Pictures Networks India continues to expand its footprint in global sports broadcasting, offering golf enthusiasts comprehensive access to one of the world’s premier professional tours.
