India’s home-grown OTT platform ZEE5, in collaboration with PRK Productions, has released the official trailer for its highly anticipated Kannada original series ‘Maarigallu’, a supernatural folklore thriller set to premiere on October 31, 2025.
Set in the 1990s in a remote village near Sirsi, ‘Maarigallu’ follows a group of villagers who uncover an ancient clue leading to a lost Kadamba-era treasure. What begins as a quest for fortune quickly spirals into chaos as greed, betrayal and fear awaken forces far beyond human understanding. Superstition and reality blur in a haunting mystery deeply rooted in Karnataka’s culture.
The series features a stellar ensemble cast including Rangayana Raghu, Gopal Krishna Deshpande and Praveen Tej — each making a web series debut. They are joined by television favourite Ninaad Hrithsa, versatile actor Prashanth Siddi and AS Suraj, known for his work on ‘Drama Juniors’.
Directed and written by Devraj Poojary, ‘Maarigallu’ is produced by Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar under PRK Productions, with cinematography by S.K. Rao and music composed by L.V. Muthu and L.V. Ganesh. The trailer showcases a richly layered world where the forest, folklore and faith converge into a tale of devotion, dread and human conflict.
ZEE5’s Business Head for Kannada content, Deepak Sriramulu, said: “‘Maarigallu’ perfectly captures our promise — ‘namma bhashe, namma kathaegalu’ (our language, our stories). It’s a tale that marries supernatural intrigue with the warmth and humour of Karnataka’s local storytelling tradition.”
