CNN-News18 has once again asserted its dominance in the English news segment, emerging as India’s number one prime-time news channel with no competition in sight. The channel continues to set benchmarks for credibility, consistency, and viewer trust, solidifying its position as the preferred choice for news audiences across the country.
According to a press release, the latest BARC data reveals CNN-News18 commanding a remarkable 64.4 percent market share during the prime-time slot of 7 pm to 11 pm, far ahead of its closest rivals, NDTV at 15.4 percent and Times Now at 12.2 percent. This dominance extends to the overall market as well, with CNN-News18 holding a 36.5 percent share compared to NDTV 24×7 at 25.2 percent and Times Now at 21.4 percent. The figures are based on BARC India data for weeks 36 to 39 of 2025, covering both urban markets and viewers aged 15 and above.
The channel’s sustained leadership is attributed to its commitment to delivering accurate, timely, and impactful journalism. CNN-News18 combines in-depth reporting with insightful analysis, backed by a strong team of anchors including Zakka Jacob, Anand Narasimhan, Rahul Shivshankar, and Shivani Gupta. Their expertise, coupled with the channel’s extensive network of reporters across India, ensures comprehensive coverage of national and international events, keeping viewers well-informed.
Since the resumption of BARC ratings in March 2022, CNN-News18 has consistently maintained its number one position, a testament to its credibility and the trust it has built among audiences. The channel’s success reflects its ability to blend factual reporting with engaging storytelling, setting new standards for English news broadcasting in India.
