The Times Network India Health Summit & Awards 2025 turned the spotlight on India’s growing healthcare revolution, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and medical experts to deliberate on strategies that can strengthen the nation’s healthcare ecosystem.
Organized by news network Times Network late last week, the summit also honoured 103 outstanding achievers across various segments of the healthcare industry, recognizing their contribution toward building a healthier and more resilient India.
According to a press release issued by Times Network, the two-day event came at a time when India’s healthcare industry—valued at over $500 billion—is rapidly evolving into a global powerhouse. With advancements in telemedicine, AI diagnostics, digital health records, and an increasing focus on accessibility, the summit served as an essential platform to assess progress, address challenges, and map out the future of healthcare in India.
Gracing the event as Chief Guest, Anupriya Patel, Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilisers, Government of India, underlined the tremendous progress made by the country’s healthcare system in recent years.
“India’s healthcare system has undergone a profound transformation—from spending just 1.1 percent of GDP on health to nearly 2 percent today, aiming for 2.5 percent as per the National Health Policy 2017,” she said. Citing flagship initiatives, she noted that Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY has been a “social revolution,” providing Rs.5 lakh health coverage to over 62 crore citizens.
Highlighting India’s strides in digital healthcare, she shared that over 81 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) IDs have been created, enabling 73 crore citizens to link their medical records. “Medical colleges have more than doubled—from 387 to 809—and AIIMS institutions have increased from 7 to 23 in just 11 years. Out-of-pocket health expenditure has dropped from 63 percent to 39.4 percent. These are not just numbers; they represent hope, access, and dignity for millions,” the Minister added.
She further emphasized that while the government’s initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat, Amrit Pharmacy, Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme, and the Free Drugs and Diagnostics Initiative have created a robust healthcare framework across rural and urban India, collective partnerships between the public and private sectors remain vital. “Health is a shared mission. We must work together to realise our vision of a Swasth Bharat and Viksit Bharat by 2047,” she stated.
In line with its commitment to empowering patients and promoting transparency, Times Network announced a nationwide hospital ranking survey to help citizens make better-informed decisions about healthcare services. The All-India Top 5 Group of Multispecialty Hospitals was unveiled in the first phase, with additional rankings set to be released in the coming months.
Focusing on innovation, affordability, and preventive care, the summit featured thought-provoking discussions that explored how technology, collaboration, and research can drive a more inclusive and sustainable healthcare system. The event highlighted a shared vision to make quality healthcare accessible and equitable for every Indian, while acknowledging the efforts of those leading the change.
