Malayalam actor-director Basil Joseph has stepped into a new chapter of his career with the launch of his production banner, Basil Joseph Entertainment. The announcement was made through his Instagram page, where he unveiled the official logo animation alongside his trademark laugh.
Basil, who began his film journey as an assistant director to Vineeth Sreenivasan in Thira (2013), has since carved a niche both as an actor and filmmaker. Known for his performances in ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’, ‘Maranamass’, and ‘Joji’, as well as directing acclaimed films such as ‘Kunjiramayanam’, ‘Godha’, and ‘Minnal Murali’, he is now taking the leap into production with a mission to bring “better” and “bolder” stories to the screen.
Sharing his thoughts on Instagram, Basil admitted to both excitement and uncertainty:
“So, here we go again. Trying something I have never done before—producing films. Still figuring out the ‘how’, but what I do know is I want to tell stories better, bolder, and in new ways. Let’s see where this new road takes us. Welcome to Basil Joseph Entertainment.”
The post drew instant reactions from industry friends, with actor Tovino Thomas jokingly commenting, “Congratulations. So, what’s the plan? The first production, I’m the hero, right?” to which Basil quipped back, “In the first film, I’ll be the hero. I can make you the villain if you want.”
Along with the launch, Basil also announced his first film production in collaboration with Dr. Ananthu S, founder of Xylem Learning. A video shared by Dr. Ananthu on Instagram showcased their discussion, ending with the reveal that the title teaser of the project will be out soon, heightening curiosity about their upcoming venture.
This move signals a natural evolution for Basil Joseph, as fans now eagerly await the teaser to get a first look at the tone and ambition of this new creative chapter.
