Get ready for a haunted laugh riot as ‘The Bhootnii’, a horror-comedy starring Sanjay Dutt, Mouni Roy, Sunny Singh and Palak Tiwari, is set for its World Television Premiere on Zee Cinema and ZEE5 on July 18 at 8 pm. The film, a quirky mix of chills and chuckles, promises to take viewers on a supernatural rollercoaster with a darkly comic twist.
Produced by Deepak Mukut of Soham Rockstar Entertainment and Sanjay Dutt of Three Dimension Motion Pictures, and written and directed by Sidhaant Sachdev, ‘The Bhootnii’ features a high-voltage cast and a gripping, yet entertaining storyline that blends mystery, madness, and mirth. The film originally saw a limited theatrical release but is now gearing up to find its audience on the small screen.
Set in the haunted grounds of St. Vincent’s College in Delhi, the story unfolds around a cursed tree and a ghost who returns every Valentine’s Day. It follows Shantanu (Sunny Singh), a heartbroken student who accidentally awakens Mohabbat (Mouni Roy) — a dangerously alluring spirit with a tragic past. As the haunting intensifies, eccentric ghostbuster Baba (Sanjay Dutt) arrives with more secrets than solutions. The film’s unexpected twists and a looming Holika Dahan night heighten the drama and suspense, questioning whether Baba is a savior — or something else entirely.
Speaking about the film, Sanjay Dutt said, “The Bhootnii was always meant to be a fun, quirky ride — a real clutter breaker. Unfortunately, it didn’t get enough screens during its theatrical release. But this is a film made with a lot of love and heart. I truly hope it connects with the audience on Zee Cinema and ZEE5.”
Mouni Roy shared, “Portraying Mohabbat was an exciting challenge — she’s complex, layered, and unlike any character I’ve played before. Working with Sanjay sir and the whole cast was a memorable experience, and I’m eager for audiences to relive this madness again.”
Sunny Singh, who plays the lead, described it as “a rollercoaster of horror and humour with a strong emotional core.” He added that sharing the screen with Sanjay Dutt and working with director Sidhaant Sachdev was both inspiring and creatively fulfilling.
Palak Tiwari, in her first major feature role, said, “Ananya is a character I instantly connected with — she’s bold, inquisitive and thrown into the middle of a haunting. Working with this cast and under Siddhant sir’s guidance was unforgettable.”
Producer Deepak Mukut summed it up, saying, “The Bhootnii is a mad, magical mix of chaos, comedy and chills. Whether you missed it in theatres or want to relive it, this is one haunting you won’t forget.”
With its clever script, eccentric characters, and unique horror-comedy blend, ‘The Bhootnii’ is all set to win hearts and send shivers across living rooms.
Don’t miss the world television premiere of ‘The Bhootnii’ on July 18 at 8 pm, only on Zee Cinema and ZEE5.
