Streaming platform JioHotstar yesterday announced ‘The Society’, a new reality show to be hosted by stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui.
Billed as a bold social experiment, the show brings together 25 contestants who will compete over 200 hours of high-stakes gameplay inside a controlled environment shaped around class-based divisions, a press release from the platform said, according to a PTI report.
It will be co-hosted by influencer Shreya Kalra and premiere on JioHotstar on July 21.
In a statement, Faruqui said, “‘The Society’ isn’t just a game; it’s a mirror to the outside world. Power shifts, loyalties break, it’s raw, real, and relentless.”
Faruqui seems to be on a roll these days. As earlier reported by Indianbroadcastingworld.com, based on an ANI news dispatch, the standup comedian will also make his television hosting debut with COLORS’ TV channel’s upcoming show ‘Pati Patni Aur Panga – Jodiyon Ka Reality Check’. The show promises a quirky, fun-filled exploration of relationships, offering audiences a window into the dynamics of real-life celebrity couples.
The ANI report added that the show will feature Munawar alongside veteran actress Sonali Bendre, who will bring in the wife’s perspective, while he will represent the husband’s point of view. The show will present a humorous yet heart-warming reality check into everyday couple quirks — from silly squabbles over wet towels to forgotten anniversaries, and everything in between.
The show will bring together popular celebrity couples including Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee; Hina Khan and Rocky Jaiswal and Avika Gor and Milind Chandwani.
Both Colors television channel and streaming platform JioHotstar are part of the over $ 8 billion JioStar’s media empire, which was formed by merging Reliance-controlled Viacom18 and the India assets of The Walt Disney Company.
