The wait is almost over for fans of ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’, with Prime Video all set to drop the much-awaited Season 3 of its hit coming-of-age series on July 16.
Based on the best-selling trilogy by author Jenny Han, the third and final season promises to bring closure to the sun-drenched, emotionally-charged journey of Belly, Conrad, Jeremiah, and their families and friends at Cousins Beach.
According to a Prime Video press note, the show’s second season became one of the platform’s most successful releases, with its premiere episode more than doubling the viewership of Season 1 in just three days. The show’s cultural footprint extended far beyond streaming metrics — book sales surged, artists featured on the soundtrack, like Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo, saw significant streaming boosts, and the show’s stars witnessed a massive jump in their social media following. The TikTok hashtag #thesummeriturnedpretty garnered over 10 billion views by the time Season 2 launched in 2023.
Season 1 introduced audiences to Isabel “Belly” Conklin and her yearly summer rituals at the beach house owned by Susannah Fisher, her mother’s best friend. Alongside Susannah’s sons, Conrad and Jeremiah, Belly’s sweet-sixteen summer evolved into a whirlwind of emotions, romance, and heartbreak. As Belly found herself in the throes of a complicated love triangle, Susannah’s battle with cancer cast a somber shadow. The season closed with Belly and Conrad finally confessing their love, and Susannah choosing to fight her illness with an experimental treatment.
Season 2 returned with grief hanging heavy in the air. Following Susannah’s death, the beach house, once a symbol of joy, became a battleground for memories and legacy. Belly, emotionally distant after her breakup with Conrad, faced her unresolved feelings amid tension with Jeremiah. When Conrad mysteriously left college, Belly and Jeremiah tracked him back to Cousins Beach — only to find him fighting to keep the house from being sold. Joined by Steven and Taylor, the group tried to preserve the space that once brought them together. As familial bonds were tested and secrets unfolded, the house was ultimately saved, and Belly chose Jeremiah, setting a new direction for her journey.
Now, as ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ prepares for its third season, viewers can expect a deeply personal, emotionally driven story. With stakes higher than ever, the series continues to explore themes of healing, love, and identity — tying up the arcs of its beloved characters.
Season 3 is helmed by showrunners Jenny Han and Sarah Kucserka, with Han, Kucserka, and Karen Rosenfelt serving as executive producers, alongside Paul Lee, Hope Hartman, and Mads Hansen for wiip. Produced jointly by Amazon Studios and wiip, the season stars Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Sean Kaufman, Jackie Chung, and Rachel Blanchard. The first two episodes will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on July 16, with subsequent episodes releasing weekly. In a bid to reach a wider audience, the series will stream in English as well as Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
As the summer saga reaches its final act, fans can expect a poignant goodbye filled with nostalgia, romance, and revelations.
