Prasar Bharati has generated a substantial Rs.55.4 crore from the sale of three slots on the first day of the ongoing DD FreeDish MPEG-2 online e-auction. The auction, which began on Monday, saw Sony Pal, Colors Rishtey, and Sun Neo securing slots under the A+ category, which includes Hindi and Urdu General Entertainment Channels (GECs).
According to The Economic Times,, Sony Pal won its slot for Rs.18.55 crore, Colors Rishtey for Rs.18.35 crore, and Sun Neo for Rs.18.5 crore. The reserve price for A+ category GECs was set at Rs.15 crore, making these acquisitions highly competitive.
Compared to last year, when only two slots were sold on Day 1 for Rs.42 crore, this year’s figures indicate strong demand for slots on India’s free-to-air (FTA) direct-to-home (DTH) platform.
