The Embassy of India in Yerevan, in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), is set to host the Indian Film Festival 2025, a three-day tribute to the legendary Raj Kapoor, marking his 100th birth anniversary.

Taking place from February 7 to 9 at Kino Moscow Theatre, this festival promises a mesmerizing blend of nostalgia and contemporary Indian cinema, strengthening cultural ties between India and Armenia through the universal language of film.

Kicking off the festival on February 7 at 6.00 pm, cinephiles will be treated to an exclusive exhibition, Life and Times of Raj Kapoor, at the Big Red Hall, offering an insightful journey into the filmmaker’s extraordinary career. Following this, at 6.30 pm, Kapoor’s Satyam Shivam Sundaram will grace the screen, presenting a visually stunning and philosophical tale, complete with English subtitles.

The cinematic celebrations continue on February 8 in the Small Red Hall, where two of Kapoor’s most cherished classics will be showcased with Russian subtitles. At 1.30 pm, audiences will experience Anari, a heartwarming story of innocence and morality, followed by the globally acclaimed Awaara, which established Kapoor as India’s very own Charlie Chaplin, captivating audiences worldwide.

On February 9, the festival takes a poetic turn with Teesri Kasam at 2.00 pm, a lyrical masterpiece celebrated for its emotional depth. The event will conclude on a contemporary note with English Vinglish at 7.00 pm, featuring the late, legendary Sridevi in one of her most iconic performances. Both films will also be screened with Russian subtitles, ensuring accessibility to a broader audience.
