In a delightful fusion of education and entertainment, language-learning platform Duolingo has teamed up with Amazon MX Player for a brand-new campaign featuring Bollywood legend Jackie Shroff and the internet’s favorite green owl, Duo. The collaboration aims to encourage language learning in a fun and engaging way while celebrating the growing demand for international content in India.
The lighthearted brand film showcases Jackie Shroff attempting to order food at a restaurant where he isn’t familiar with the language. Instead of changing the audio settings or relying on translations, Duo steps in with its signature wit and wisdom, encouraging him to learn the language instead. The film perfectly captures the essence of ‘edu-tainment’, showing how learning a new language can be both entertaining and practical.
Speaking about the campaign, Jackie Shroff shared his enthusiasm, playfully adding: “Duolingo pe bhasha seekh, aur Amazon MX Player pe maze le”—a fun nod to the platform’s vast selection of Korean, Turkish, and Mandarin shows that many Indian viewers enjoy.
Karandeep Singh Kapany, Regional Marketing Director at Duolingo, emphasized the growing appetite for global content in India and how Duolingo is making language learning accessible and enjoyable. “By combining Duolingo’s language expertise with Amazon MX Player’s vast entertainment platform, we’re creating a unique edu-tainment experience that makes picking up a new language fun, convenient, and truly rewarding,” he stated.
Echoing this sentiment, Aruna Daryanani, Director at Amazon MX Player, highlighted how the collaboration aligns with the platform’s innovative marketing strategies. “At Amazon MX Player, we aspire to engage our audiences by working with brands to create unconventional campaigns. Partnering with Duolingo allows us to blend entertainment with utility, making streaming even more immersive and engaging.”
With a surging interest in international content—from K-Dramas to European cinema—Indian audiences are increasingly exploring different languages through entertainment. This partnership between Duolingo and Amazon MX Player is set to make language learning an integral part of that journey, making global content more accessible and enjoyable for all.
