The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has extended the deadline for stakeholders to submit their comments on the proposed authorization framework for broadcasting services.
Originally set for November 2024, the new deadline will allow industry experts, broadcasters, service providers, and consumers more time to engage with the consultation process, The Storyboard18 reported.
The authorization framework is a crucial component of TRAI‘s ongoing efforts to streamline and regulate broadcasting services, including aspects related to licensing, content distribution, and service quality. It aims to address the evolving landscape of the Indian broadcasting sector, which includes the rapid growth of digital platforms, satellite channels, and emerging technologies.
The extended timeline gives industry players an opportunity to carefully review the recommendations and provide detailed feedback to ensure that the regulatory measures align with market developments while fostering competition and consumer choice.
TRAI has urged all stakeholders to submit their comments and suggestions to support the creation of a more robust and transparent broadcasting environment in India.
