Dharma Productions has announced that its upcoming film, starring Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, and Ananya Panday, will hit theaters on March 14, 2025.
Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, this much-anticipated biopic tells the inspiring story of C. Sankaran Nair, a prominent barrister who fearlessly challenged the British Raj over the infamous Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
The film draws inspiration from the book ‘The Case That Shook The Empire,’ co-authored by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat, with Raghu being the great-grandson of C. Sankaran Nair, PTI reported.
The film, teased by Karan Johar since 2021, aims to shed light on Nair’s courageous courtroom battle that exposed the brutalities of the British forces in the tragic massacre where hundreds of unarmed Indian civilians were killed. This pivotal moment in India’s fight for independence played a crucial role in galvanizing the freedom movement.
Known for his multifaceted contributions, Nair was a former President of the Indian National Congress and served on the Viceroy’s Executive Council. His relentless pursuit of justice remains a cornerstone in India’s colonial history.
As the release date approaches, fans are eagerly anticipating how the talented cast will bring this historical tale to life, paying tribute to one of India’s key figures in the fight against colonial rule.
