The Indian Men’s Hockey Team will face off against Germany in an eagerly awaited two-match bilateral series on October 23 and 24, 2024 at the historic Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi. The matches will be broadcast live on DD Sports, India’s key public sports broadcaster, and FanCode, the country’s premier sports streaming platform.
According to a press release from Hockey India, this collaboration between DD Sports and FanCode is set to bring the thrill of international hockey to millions of fans across India. The interest surrounding the matches is soaring, especially following India’s bronze medal finish at the Olympics and Germany’s silver medal victory.
Hockey India President Dr. Dilip Tirkey emphasized the importance of the partnership, saying, “We have had a fruitful collaboration with FanCode through the Hockey India National Championships. Their platform has made hockey more accessible nationwide. With the India vs. Germany Test Series being available on both FanCode and DD Sports, this partnership will significantly boost our mission to reach a wider audience.”
Hockey India Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh also shared his enthusiasm for the series, adding, “This partnership with FanCode and DD Sports enhances the viewing experience for passionate hockey fans and contributes to our vision of making hockey more visible and accessible throughout India.”
Yannick Colaco, Co-Founder of FanCode, expressed pride in the extended partnership with Hockey India, stating, “We are excited to bring the action of this thrilling series to Indian hockey enthusiasts. It showcases the best of international hockey.”
This series also marks the return of men’s international hockey to the national capital after a decade, with the last match played in New Delhi during the Hero Hockey World League Final in January 2014. The matches come on the heels of Hockey India’s recent success in hosting prestigious tournaments like the Men’s Asian Champions Trophy in Chennai and the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier in Ranchi. Hockey India continues its efforts to expand the sport’s presence, gearing up for the upcoming Women’s Asian Champions Trophy in Rajgir, Bihar, in November 2024.
