Acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta, known for critically acclaimed projects such as ‘Scam 1992’ and ‘Aligarh’, is set to embark on an exciting new venture.
The director recently announced his intention to launch a personal YouTube channel and explore the food industry through a dedicated Over-The-Top (OTT) platform centered around culinary content, IANS reported.
Hansal Mehta’s passion for food is well-documented, often sharing glimpses of his culinary adventures on social media. Now, the filmmaker plans to take it a step further by creating a YouTube channel focused on cooking, food stories, and culinary experiments.
In addition to this, Mehta is reportedly in the early stages of developing an OTT platform that will offer original food-related content, including cooking shows, food documentaries, and features on regional cuisines.
In a recent interview, Mehta shared his vision for the food-based OTT platform, saying, “Food has always been a major part of my life. I believe it’s more than just sustenance; it tells stories, preserves cultures, and brings people together. Through this platform, I want to explore those stories and give food enthusiasts a dedicated space to indulge in content that celebrates culinary diversity.”
While the YouTube channel is expected to go live soon, the OTT platform is currently in development, with Mehta keen to involve some of India’s top chefs and culinary experts in the project.
The move is seen as part of a broader trend where filmmakers are expanding their creative footprint into digital media and niche OTT segments.
