Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film ‘Love and War’ has had its release date postponed to March 20, 2026, from its original Christmas 2025 slot, according to a recent update from Bhansali’s team. The epic film will feature Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal in the lead roles.
This project is of special significance for both Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. Ranbir will reunite with Bhansali for the first time since his debut in ‘Saawariya’ (2007). For Alia, this will be her second collaboration with the director, following the success of ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ (2022). Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal will be working with Bhansali for the first time, marking a notable milestone in his career, ANI reported.
The news of the release date change was shared by film trade analyst Taran Adarsh on X (formerly Twitter), confirming that Bhansali has finalized March 20, 2026, as the official release date for the film.
“Love and War” was first announced in January 2024, with the production originally slated to hit theatres during the 2025 Christmas season. The film’s announcement post on social media garnered widespread excitement, featuring the signatures of the lead trio—Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal—alongside a teaser that promised an epic saga.
Plot details of the film have been kept under wraps, but it is expected to be a grand cinematic experience, characteristic of Bhansali’s opulent storytelling style. Production on the film is scheduled to begin in the coming months, with more updates on the storyline and cast likely to emerge as filming progresses.
