Meta-owned WhatsApp is rolling out a significant update for verified channels and businesses, replacing the familiar green verification badge with a new blue checkmark.
This change, reported by WaBetaInfo, is aimed at enhancing brand consistency across Meta platforms and unifying the user experience across Facebook, Instagram, and now WhatsApp.
The feature is currently being deployed to WhatsApp Beta users on Android through the latest update, version 2.24.14.18, available on the Google Play Store. A screenshot shared by WaBetaInfo illustrates the new blue checkmark, signaling a shift towards a standardized visual identity for verified accounts.
The introduction of the blue checkmark signifies authenticity for users interacting with verified channels and businesses on WhatsApp. This visual cue is designed to reassure users that they are engaging with official accounts, thus mitigating the risks associated with impersonation and enhancing user trust.
